Cancelling Proton VPN means switching off auto-renewal in your account; that alone refunds nothing. To get your money back, ask within 30 days, under the conditions below. We tested neither ourselves.
How to cancel and get a refund
A refund depends on the provider accepting your request under these conditions. It is not a guarantee that a particular service, such as a streaming site, works with the VPN.- Ask for your refund within 30 days. Contact Proton customer support within 30 days of subscribing; bank transfer and cash payments cannot be refunded. A card refund takes 5-10 business days, PayPal and Bitcoin 1-2 working days.
- Then switch off auto-renewal. On account.protonvpn.com: sign in, choose Subscription in the sidebar, click Continue under Cancel subscription, select Cancel subscription twice and then pick a reason and click Submit; the cancellation is not final until you do that last step.
- What happens next: No further renewals are charged; you keep the paid features until the next renewal date, after which the account becomes Proton Free; the account itself is not deleted.
Want your money back? Ask for the refund first, within the period, and then check that auto-renewal is off. Switching off auto-renewal on its own only stops the next charge.
Bought in an app store: Subscribed on the App Store: cancel in the Apple account settings and ask Apple for the refund (reportaproblem.apple.com). On Google Play: cancel in the Play Store; ask Proton support or Google Play for the refund.
